St. Bernard Prep Open House
On Sunday, November 11, 2018, St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman, AL, invites the public to attend its Open House. The campus will be open from noon until 6:00 pm.
Located on the eastern outskirts of the city of Cullman, St. Bernard Prep is situated on 800 acres in the Alabama Mountain Lakes region. Operated by the Benedictine monks of St. Bernard Abbey and adjacent to the world famous Ave Maria Grotto, St. Bernard Prep School offers an ideal setting for students in grades 7-12 who desire to receive a good education. The school is a co-ed boarding and day school operated by the monks of St. Bernard Abbey, founded in 1891.
Headmaster, Fr. Linus Klucsarits, understands the world today and the need to be prepared in order to succeed. “Our students are like so many who have sincere questions about our world today,” said Fr. Linus. “We provide our students with good moral values based on the Christian faith, and educate them to become critical thinkers. We believe that this will give them the grounding they will need to deal with questions that will come in the future. When students have good moral values and the ability to think critically, they will be better prepared to know what is true.”
Along with a strong academic program, St. Bernard offers a wide range of athletics and sports. Cross county, track and field, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, bowling – these and others are part of the athletic program. During the 2017-18 academic year, ten of the fifteen varsity sports teams at St. Bernard qualified for state playoffs or state tournaments and meets.
Music and the fine arts are also an integral part of the curriculum. Theater, drama, jazz band, mixed chorus, and musicals make it possible for students to participate and develop an appreciation of the fine arts.
“We invite Moms and Dads and their sons and daughters to come to our Open House and see what we have to offer,” said Fr. Linus. “Students who come to St. Bernard come to a place that strives to provide a family atmosphere. It’s in this atmosphere that we encourage our students to excel and experience every aspect of education – fine arts, athletics as well as academics. St. Bernard is a great place for learning as well as making friendships that will last a lifetime.”
In the past five years St. Bernard has graduated an average of thirty-four seniors each year. These graduates have received an average of $4.6 million per year in college scholarships.
