Cancer Survivors Recognized at Annual Breakfast
For the volunteers and participants of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Cullman County, the cancer survivors are at the top of the list for the reasons why they give of their time, effort and money to the cause. Each year, in the week before the Relay For Life event, a special breakfast is held to honor those who have fought or are fighting the disease.
The 2015 Survivors’ Breakfast will be held at 7 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, at Cullman Church of Christ, located at the intersection of Childhaven Road and Alabama Highway 157.
The event is held to honor cancer survivors, each who will receive their pin for another year of survivorship and the purple Relay For Life Survivor shirt they will wear at the May 1 event at the Cullman County Fairgrounds.
Breakfast will be provided for the survivor and one guest. Students from Holly Pond High School provide the meal for the guests.
Any cancer survivor is welcome to attend the free event.
Cancer survivors will also be recognized the night of Relay For Life, with a special dinner at 5 p.m., at the Cullman County Fairground, prior to the 6 p.m., opening ceremonies for the annual fundraiser. Survivors will take the first lap of the evening around 7 p.m., and will be honored along with those who’ve lost the battle at the 9 p.m., luminaria ceremony.
Luminaries will be available for purchase at the Wednesday morning breakfast, on the night of Relay For Life and in advance from any Relay For Life team member.
